Chapter 274: There Is Poison On The Sword!
Chapter 274: There Is Poison On The Sword!
Boom!
A world-shattering rumble resounded.
Jiang He, having flown several thousand meters up in the air, looked down to find a shocking scene!
The ten Doom Shrooms had detonated at almost the same instant, unleashing white hot radiance that illuminated the night sky. All at once, the pitch-black night had become brighter than day, whereas a blazing inferno ignited upon the world in the company of rolling thunder.
Then, the white-hot radiance, blazing inferno, and red smoke rapidly churned in the night sky, growing in size with every passing moment, especially for the towering ball of inferno, which was expanding in size like a chicken egg.
Up above the inferno was a straw-hat shaped cloud combined with the pillar of dust kicking up from the ground forming a colossal ring-shaped mushroom cloud.
And in that very instant, Jiang He thought it was as if a blazing sun was arising from the horizon.
By the next second, the apocalyptic energy of the ‘sun’ violently burst apart. Its incomparable shockwave crashed across every direction and the nearby mountain forests were instantly reduced to nothing in its wake. Even the hardest of stone were reduced to clear liquid as the heat that reached hundreds of millions degrees Celsius washed upon it.
Pop...
And with that detonation, the Sky Demon Cult’s mountain guarding array shattered without lasting two seconds.
“What the hell...”
Up in the air, Jiang He was crying out in surprise.
All he felt was a rolling heat wave rushing from beneath him and in the next second, his body was sent flying higher above the night sky by the unstoppable shockwave.
Though it appeared to be a long process, it all occurred in a matter of seconds.
It took minutes for the shockwave to fade.
Up in the night sky, Jiang He steadied himself before slowly descending and could not help dabbing the sweat on his forehead.
And when he could clearly see the sight below...
Gasp!
He could not help inhaling sharply.
The explosive power which the ten Doom Shrooms unleashed in a split second was simply frightening. The protective array that only a full-fledged Yuan Spirit elite armed with a premium soul weapon could break was no different than a toy in the face of the ten Doom Shrooms.
Everything within three kilometers away from the epicenter was reduced to ashes and even Mount Thunder, which was said to be the tallest in sea level, was gone!
Under the scorching heat, the mountain’s boulders were reduced to transparent fluid, leaving a layer of glassy material upon the ground.
Jiang He estimated that even the mountain forests further away would be devastated.
There might not even be a handful of Ferals that survived over ten kilometers, as even a dozen kilometers away, aged trees and mountain boulders were left a mess from the violent shockwave.
“The Doom Shrooms are so scary!”
Jiang He was beside himself with lingering fear.
Luckily, he was not being careless and had taken to the air beforehand, even casting every defensive measure.
If he had remained on the ground, he would have been carbonized or liquified.
What a shame...
The Doom Shrooms did not have the immunity rule of ‘clutch your head and drop to the ground’ attached to them after being planted. Otherwise, he could drop down after throwing the Doom Shroom and personally experience the actual power and more explosive details of the Doom Shroom.
Even as that thought crossed his mind, Jiang He looked up to glance at the Sky Demon Cult’s great canyon.
The landscape itself was a mess too, and every building in the antiquated small town had crumbled.
Still, the canyon itself ran too deep.
As the square and temple deep in the canyon was thirty kilometers away from the epicenter, they were not affected much.
Moreover, the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint, the Feral Emperor water serpent, and the two cardinals had used some unknown measures to quickly retreat back to the square in the instant the Doom Shroom had blown up, avoiding the fate of dying from the explosion.
Jiang He sighed.
What a shame.
How much trouble would be spared if they would just die from the explosion?
If he were to pin the blame on anything, he would have to blame elites of their level for their exceedingly powerful sense. They must have picked up on the danger one second before the Doom Shroom detonated and rapidly withdrew. With the mountain guarding array buying them over a second, they naturally managed to escape the heart of the explosion.
Be that as it may, how could Jiang He give up so easily?
Laughing out loud and carrying his sword as he moved, two more Doom Shrooms appeared in his grasp as he turned his hand. Arriving at the square, he said smugly, “Weren’t you saying that the array would not be broken unless struck by a full-fledged Yuan Spirit elite? What do you have to say now that your array has been blown?”
“Jiang He!”
One of the Sky Demon Cult’s cardinals stood on the edge of the square and looked up into the sky, shaking even as he looked at the two Doom Shrooms in Jiang He’s hand. “There are thirteen undercover agents from the military and the Martial Arts Department among us. Do you intend to blow them up as well?”
Even so, that man was freaking out now.
Still, it made sense—who wouldn’t after seeing the ensuing sight after Jiang He throw those explosive shrooms?
Nonetheless, the other Sky Demon Cultist echoed, “Jiang He, we’re all martial artist. If you are that powerful, why don’t we fight with our skills? How are you a gentleman if you fight with nuclear weapons?”
“Tut, tut...”
Jiang He slowly descended and stood up on thin air, thirty meters away from the square and unable to repress a laugh. “It’s really been hard on you, what with you having to say something so shameless.”
As for nuclear weapons...
Jiang He smiled but said nothing.
These were mushrooms he planted himself. How did they manage to warp them into nuclear weapons?
However, that was when a rank-four woman strode out from amidst the crowd of Sky Demon Cultists, crying out, “Mister Jiang, don’t mind us! We’ve already resigned ourselves to our fate on the day received our mandate!”
“Blow them up, Mister Jiang! My death is worth it with so many Sky Demon Cultists going to hell with me!”
The many military and MAD agent stood forward then.
Some Sky Demon Cultists immediately moved the instant they did so, but even before they could actually draw out their weapons...
Swish!
With a flash of scarlet sword radiance, hundreds of Sky Demon Cultists that surrounded the agents fell like straws of harvested wheat.
“For the Holy Faith! Death!”
There was actually one Sky Demon Cultist who roaring as he lunged suicidally at Jiang He.
Jiang He did not even bother to look. When the cultist arrived reached ten meters away from him, a pulse of mana destroyed the cultist.
With a nonchalant throw, the green armor which the Cloudscraper Vine had turned into green light, landing before the thirteen agents.
In one brief second, it changed forms again, once again into the Cloudscraper Vine now.
“Protect them, Cloudscraper Vine!” Jiang He yelled.
Swish!
When he spoke, Jiang He’s figure turned into a flash.
He had already rushed toward one of the Sky Demon Cult Cardinals.
Even so, he did not use his Scarlet Flame Sword, nor did he use any martial art or palm technique—he simply swung an absolutely normal punch at the Cardinal.
Reflected upon the Sky Demon Cult Cardinal’s pupils, the fist rapidly enlarged...
And then...
Pow.
That one punch blow up the divine-tempest pinnacle Sky Demon Cult Cardinal.
Jiang He was so quick that the Cardinal did not have the time evade at all, and of course...he could not escape even if he wanted to.
Moreover, Jiang He was too strong. Having mastered the third-tier of the Nine Heavenly Stars Body Formula, his physically strength alone could match a Void-tier pinnacle individual’s. As such, destroying a divine-tempest martial elite who was for most parts the same as Three Blades Lin was not all that different from crushing an ant.
Then, Jiang He turned and charged toward the other Sky Demon Cult Cardinal.
The Cardinal tried to turn and leave, burning his essence and True Qi to burst forward, moving faster than he ever did in his life.
Even as he fled, he screamed, “Your Holiness, save me...”
Still, would the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint be bothered about him?
After he learned that the Dragoncroc Emperor and the Yuan Spirit Clone of the ancient daemon cultivator backing it had died to Jiang He’s sword, she could hardly muster any fighting spirit with Jiang He, who was now standing directly before her.
At her command, the water serpent beneath her took to the air and made a wild dash towards the distant horizon.
As a matter of fact, the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint was at a complete loss inwardly.
“How did this happen?”
“How did this happen?”
“How did the mountain guarding array fall apart...”
Her entire head was filled with images of the pitch-black, even laughable mushrooms Jiang He was holding...
What universal joke was that?
Mushrooms...blowing up?
Most important, it was no different from hydrogen bomb in power! It was simply unbelievable!
“Trying to run?”
Jiang He laughed out loud and pursued the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint after catching up to the other Cardinal and destroying him with another punch in just two seconds.
Swish!
He flew, blade in hand while charging his mana to the extreme, his flight speed several times quicker than the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint’s.
“We’re not getting away...”
The water serpent bellowed at that, “Master, we’re not getting away. You should go, I’ll hold the rear...”
Roar!
Rearing its head skyward and bellowing in rage, it abruptly turned around, opened its maw, and spat black Daemonic Qi towards Jiang He. In truth, a single well-concealed dark sword flash was hidden beneath the qi breath, and not even Jiang He noticed it.
Jiang He dispersed the Daemonic Qi with a single punch before his eyes narrowed...
Snikt!
The single streak of dark sword flash stabbed onto his chest.
“A hit! It’s a hit...Master, we don’t have to run! That superior daemonic weapon was refined with the venom from my poison sac. If struck by my sword, even a full-fledged True Child cultivator would lose mana, their cultivation fading, let alone a Golden Pellet sword cultivator...”
Both the water serpent and the Sky Demon Cult’s Saint stopped, appearing rather delighted.
They did not expect that Jiang He, who had slain both the Dragoncroc Emperor and the Yuan Spirit Clone of the ancient daemon cultivator backing it, would be so easily handled!
In that very moment, Jiang He was stunned too.
He grabbed the sword that was entirely pitch-black and glimmering with the pale blue glint of poison, exclaiming in surprise, “A superior-grade daemonic weapon?”
Did he just obtain a superior-grade daemonic weapon just like that? And a flying sword at that?
Wouldn’t he get a premium soul weapon flying sword if he brought it home and planted it? Did he just collect all three premium-grade flying sword with such ease?
Even though it carried a monumental force when it flew towards him and was trying to shrug itself free of him to flee, would meat already in his mouth get to escape?
Jiang He’s mana poured forth and subjugated the pitch-black flying sword, and he handily stuffed it into his System Backpack.
That was when he finally looked down at his wound.
It was a powerful sword, and it had actually... left a half-inch deep wound on his chest.
The wound itself was not much, but black qi was already spreading around it.
Clearly, the sword was poisoned.
Even so, Jiang he did not panic at all.
He took out three Bezoar Detox Pills with a turn of his hand, reared his head and gulped them down.
Over at the distant horizon, the water serpent’s giant ice-cold eyes blinked twice.
It was rather dumbfounded.
Was that an illusion?
That must be it! An illusion!
