Never Judge

Chapter 175 - 175

At another part of the Capital, Miguel was busy as always. After breakfast he went to work at Saints Hospital, he might not have had an operation to do, but he had to attend to a few patients today. While doing his rounds Jo Meneses, Cedric\'s highschool friend that now worked as a nurse in Miguel\'s team noticed something off about his boss.

"Doctor Chan, you seem distracted today." Jo pointed out.

"Blame your damn friend." Jo was shocked by Miguel\'s sudden outburst. Everyone knew Doctor Chan had the best temperament among all the doctors and rarely snapped. It just so happened that Nicole was passing by as well and ended up laughing at her brother as he walked away.

"Don\'t mind him Nurse Jo. I don\'t know what Cedric did this time, but I\'ll talk to my brother. Has he finished his rounds?" Nicole asked the nurse.

"Yes Doctor Chan. He\'s seen all of his patients already." Jo said with a nod.

"Please do the paperwork for him." Nicole asked as she chased after her brother.

"What\'s up with you?" Nicole said as she pulled Miguel aside.

"I didn\'t act out in front of patients so you have nothing to complain about." Miguel groaned.

"That doesn\'t excuse your attitude." Nicole scolded. She was also surprised to see her brother like this. She was the moody one in the family, Miguel was always the stable one.

"Scolded here, scolded at home. Why am I always getting scolded by women." Miguel said, shaking his head.

Nicole dragged her older brother to her office and sat him down.

"What\'s going on?" Nicole asked with a serious look. "Is it Veronica? I thought things were getting better." Nicole asked as she prepared her brother a cup of tea.

"Don\'t meddle in my love life when you have problems in yours." Miguel coldly said to his sister still refusing to tell her about his argument with Cedric.

"For your information, Ian and I are getting along really well, so you don\'t need to be bothered by my relationship. Meanwhile, you\'re already married but you still haven\'t slept with your wife." Nicole said, passing her brother the cup of tea. "I want a niece or nephew to play with." Nicole said with a pout.

"I\'m not talking about between the two of you. I\'m talking about the family, do you plan on being a repeat of uncle Miguel?" He asked his sister.

"Who is uncle Miguel?" Nicole was surprised to hear Veronica as she arrived with Katerina and Eric who were standing by the door of her office. Her assistant didn\'t announce their arrival nor did any of them knock.

"He\'s our uncle whom Miguel is named after, he was the second son of the Chan family." Eric said without exposing any emotions.

"You never come here Eric. Why are you here today?" Miguel asked his brother.

"Can\'t I see my brother and sister when I want to?" Eric asked, still not answering Miguel\'s question.

"So who is uncle Miguel?" Veronica continued to ask, not wanting to drop the topic. She knew what the brothers were trying to do.

"Someone who loved the wrong person." Eric said with a sigh. The truth about their uncle Miguel was something the Chan family had tried very hard to hide.

"I don\'t think I remember ever meeting your uncle Miguel. I remember auntie Gabriella, didn\'t she move away when we were ten?" Veronica asked Nicole.

"Uncle Miguel died before we were born Veronica." Nicole told her sister-in-law.

"What happened to him?" Veronica asked the Chan siblings.

"We aren\'t allowed to talk about it." Miguel told his wife.

"Since when did any of you listen to the rules your family set?" Veronica sat on the couch and crossed her arms. She had come over to the hospital to invite Miguel to have lunch with her. She needed to at least make an effort in their marriage, she never expected that a Chan secret would be brought up.

"It\'s not an easy topic to talk about V." Miguel said as he sat next to his wife and pulled her closer to him. "Now tell me why you\'re here." Miguel said in a flirtatious voice as he tried to nibble on her ear. His attempt was, however met with a slap as Veronica was not amused by his attempts.

"Ewwww, disgusting Miguel." Katerina said as she saw Miguel attempting to woo his wife.

"We\'re man and woman. Husband and wife, while you\'re going around with my brother with an undefined relationship that the public is just craving to find out." Miguel saw Eric look tentatively at Katerina. It seemed that he hit a sore spot that made his older brother look nervously at the woman.

"So what\'s this secret?" Veronica continued to pester her husband.

"Wait, what date is it today? Isn\'t it Uncle Miguel\'s death anniversary?" Nicole said as she jumped out of her seat.

"It is." Miguel said with a sad nod.

"Let\'s go." Nicole signaled to her brothers as she marched out of her office.

"You didn\'t want to talk about him and now we\'re going somewhere related to him. Make up your minds." An annoyed Veronica said as her husband helped her up.

"Do you want to come along?" Eric asked Katerina in a sweet tone making everyone stop in their tracks.

"I have nowhere else to be anyway, so I might as well." Katerina said with a shrug. "Will you tell us about uncle Miguel?"

"We better, or Veronica\'s gonna give Miguel a hard time. We\'re actually going to the cemetery." Eric said with a sad laugh.

The group left all together in multiple cars through the underground parking of Saints Hospital. Eric always used this entrance since as a famous actor he had to be discrete when visiting his siblings at the hospital.

Like all other rich families the Chan\'s owned a giant mausoleum for their dead in a cemetery not far from the capital. Not many people visited the cemetery in the middle of the day so the group was able to go in without any fuss.

"If today is his death anniversary, why isn\'t anyone here?" Katerina asked as she looked around at the empty mausoleum.
