Chapter 78 - Encounter In Front Of The Dungeon
"Is this the place?" A man, wearing a heavy full-plate armor, asked as he stood in front of the entrance to a dungeon.
"Yes, it is. We can go in a little bit so that you can see it for yourself, if you want." Another man, wearing a finely crafted suit, replied to him. There were plenty of other people surrounding the two, but it seemed as if they were only there to do as told instead of making any particular decisions themselves. The man in the suit was the only one that didn\'t carry any weapons with him.
"It looks like a normal place to me. Is sealing it up really worth it?" The armored man asked, and the man in the suit immediately nodded, "It\'s the best way to go about it. It\'s a fail type, and the dangerous kind. If novice dungeon divers were to enter it, underestimating the dangers or simply overestimating themselves, they will most certainly die, or come back crippled."
"Did anyone ever clear it?"
"No, not as far as we\'re aware at least. The items and skills you can get from this place are very low-tier, so the adventurers that would be capable of it are simply not interested. We tried persuading them, but they say it\'s not worth their time. And beyond that... even if they\'re powerful, due to the nature of the enemies, there is still an incredible danger to them. Just a single attack from one of them will potentially cost them life or limb." The man in the suit said with a bitter expression
"It would be a shame to let it go uncleared completely, but that\'s how it is. I don\'t feel interested in clearing a place like this either, so I can\'t really blame anyone." The armored man replied with a slight sigh before turning around, looking at the people surrounding him, "Go ahead and measure out the entrance area. One of the mages that has the spell, create an earth wall a bit deeper in to make sure nothing can come out and bother them."
Immediately as the armored man said this, a group of people walked toward the Dungeon\'s entrance to get to work. The first person to go inside was a cloaked woman holding a tall staff in her hand. After holding the staff forward, its tip let out a dim light, but soon, the woman slightly flinched, looking deeper down the passage.
"S-Sir! I think there\'s someone in there!" She exclaimed, and immediately, both the armored man and the man in the suit rushed over toward the entrance, "What? What did you say?"
"I can hear voices!" The woman replied, and the armored man quickly stepped in front of her, and soon heard the voices as well.
"...hy couldn\'t you have just used the lantern? It would have made things so much easier!" A feminine voice exclaimed first, followed by a retaliating masculine voice, "I\'m a martial artist, I need both my hands!"
Quickly afterward, another, cold and emotionless masculine voice, said, "You were clearly using the torches on the wall, though. Or you could have just given the lantern to Kyla, or tied it to your bag."
"...Come on man, just admit that you forgot you had your lantern in your bag the whole time." A third, deep and rough masculine voice added, as the group came into view. It was four young adventurers, three men and one woman.
They were casually walking through this dungeon, lit up by a handheld lantern. As they came closer and noticed the armored man as well, they stopped for a moment, looking at each other.
"What the- What\'re you standing there for?! Come the hell outta there, you\'re gonna get yourselves killed!" The man said, yelling out angrily. However, the group just walked out casually, not really minding the fear, worry and anger in his voice.
It didn\'t take long for them to reach him, though, and they simply stepped past him as he stood there utterly baffled.
"Erm... so, this is kind of unexpected." Foster let out, seeing that it wasn\'t just that one man, but a rather large group of individuals just standing there. A moment later, while everyone seemed shocked to see four people just walking out of that \'fail type\' dungeon, the armored man rushed up to them, pulling the closest person to him, the young man carrying that large, cloth-wrapped pillar on his shoulder, around.
"Answer me! What were you thinking? Don\'t you guys know what this pla-"
"Don\'t touch me." Lynol replied, hitting the man\'s hand away, "Also, fucking calm down, we\'re fine, right? That not seem weird to you? Look at this." He said, holding forward the coin that he got leaving the dungeon, the clear proof. Immediately, the armored man turned around and stepped back to the dungeon\'s entrance, using his foot to rub away the moss that had overgrown the first few steps.
He pulled it away, seeing the exact same sigil as was on that coin. Quickly, he jumped up again, and tried to grab the coin out of Lynol\'s hand, which the swordsman let him do. The man\'s hand simply seemed to faze through the coin, as if it was only an illusion.
"It\'s the... Clear Proof." The armored man said, looking at everyone else in the group, as they were also holding up their respective clear proof coins. A broad smile formed on the man\'s face, and he started to laugh loudly and hysterically, "You bastards fucking cleared it, huh?"
Immediately, the crowd around them started muttering to themselves. They all heard about this place. A beginner dungeon that had never been cleared, because nobody wanted to bother. The only fail type dungeon anywhere near Arcadum. And now, a simple group of four took this place on and managed to clear it without any sort of visible injuries? That seemed not only unlikely, but blatantly impossible.
"Are you four adventurers?" The man asked, looking at their appearance, and Foster quickly got his attention, "Kinda, I just signed up a couple days ago, so it\'s not official just yet."
"A couple- What..? What strength tier are you guys?" The armored man stared at the group, and Foster quickly turned his head, not knowing this term.
"I\'d say we\'re all tier two? I don\'t think any of us have tier three abilities yet." Lynol replied quickly, and Octer quickly scoffed, "Maybe you guys. I have a tier three ability. Well, sort of... I\'ve been practicing, but it seems like I\'ll properly learn it soon."
"So that means..."
"Yep, we\'re still beginners, technically." Lynol said, finishing the man\'s sentence.
